01 Jan 2001 in Review
I have become resolved to the fact that my main goal in life is to
establish memories through various experiences. Fortunately this year has
only added weight to the memories of yesteryear. I have been blessed.
And, I
think that you’ll agree that 2001 has given me many opportunities and
interesting experiences. This year alone, I’ve received full body massages
at a Palm Springs Resort and celebrated the last year of my twenties at the
historic Pig & Whistle’s VIP room with 30 of my close friends. I attended
my very first Porn-Star Awards and in September attended an all vegetarian
vegan festival. I attended three shows from Broadway and even got to hear
U2 live at the Grammys. I sat behind Julia Roberts at the People’s Choice
Awards (her in-person cackle was so cool to hear) I won money in
Las Vegas and quickly lost money in Las Vegas. I shot an industrial film
and rode over the waves in a Venetian catamaran. I prayed while hearing
the Pope speak in Rome and marvelled at President Clinton’s eloquence back
home. I spent Easter in Manhattan Beach and Thanksgiving at a McDonald’s
in Cabazon.
2001 also marked my five year anniversary of living in Los
Angeles. It is here that I attended some live performances at the
Hollywood Bowl and organized a table read with one of the top scripts from
Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s Project Greenlight. I even had time to attend
a Drag Queen pageant judged by Elvira and Debbie Reynolds. And, of course,
there’s more. I saved my friend Ruthie from being accosted by security
guards in the Universal Studios backlot, worked at a national “I Love Lucy”
convention and even became director Garry Marshall’s assistant for a night.
Lastly, I’ve also been blessed with the opportunity to sit front row at
three fashion shows. Despite all of this, the biggest accomplishment that
I have achieved in 2001 is making it through! Thank you God. Thank you
family, and thank you, you.
